Jacaranda is that tree you see on many streets that turns purple a couple times a year. Periodically, they get trimmed. That's how it comes into my possession.
It's a remarkable wood, really. It's basically a straight-grained species. However, being a large tree, it undergoes some stresses in its growth that cause turns in the figure that come out when one looks for it.
The diameter is 5" and it stands 3-1/2" tall.
